Jetson Green in D.C. this Weekend, Ideas?

100x100_question_2I'm going to be in Washington D.C. with a team of MBAs for a real estate case competition this weekend.  I have some free time both Friday and Sunday and would like to delve into the greener side of D.C.  Any ideas?  I'm up for anything.

Well, Preston, you can always meet me for a beer (or coffee if you don't drink) and we can "talk green." I live in the DC area. :-)

Be sure to check out the National Building Museum's exhibit, "The Green House: New Directions in Sustainable Architecture and Design," featuring Michelle Kaufman's Glidehouse: www.nbm.org/Exhibits/greenHouse2/greenHouse.htm

if you don't mind driving to greenbelt, there is a straw bale structure being built for friends school: http://www.friendscommunityschool.org/

Thanks for the responses! I'm all booked up for Friday and will mostly likely get to The Green House exhibit. Thanks for the advice Steve. Probably won't be able to get to the greenbelt, but thanks for the suggestion!

Temas - sorry I struck out on both. Don't drink coffee or alcohol. Shoot me an email with your phone number and we can do lunch or something, if you're available on Sunday. Anyone else feel free to email me and we can all meet at some green restaurant near George Washington University.

Preston, try to talk with builder/designer Monte Stettin from Mahler Development of California. He's in DC now and I'll bet you two are at the same real estate event. He did the first 'green' building stuff in his area and has big plans. Good luck!

That's great- I wish my school had been built with strawbale and not asbestos! :)

DO NOT contact Monte Stettin... terrible, disreputable builder. Schlock-meister.
